General Information
Within implementation of a cross-border project “Strengthening Independent Media in Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia”, NGO “Internews Ukraine” invites media outlets from Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia to apply for participation in the Multimedia Web Innovation Lab, a 3-day event for newsrooms to be held on November 16-18, 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Multimedia Web Innovation Lab puts together representatives of newsrooms to develop templates and tools that will allow media organizations to emphasize the effective use of multimedia content and better engage their audiences online. The Lab has supported the creation of a free, open-source, content-manageable universal website template with automated online outreach tools designed for easy use by cash-strapped local media and adaptable to the needs of local media. This template will be presented during the Lab. Nine teams members each representing Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine will be invited to Kyiv to participate in a three-day event. Participants will learn about theory and practice of gamification and pitch their project ideas for funding. Three strongest project ideas will receive grants of $2,000 per each country.

The project “Strengthening Independent Media in Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia” aims to improve access to useful information for citizens of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia by improving the capacity of local media, applying innovations in journalism, encouraging dialog among youth, training older people to get the most out of the internet, and stimulating collaboration between journalists from all three countries.
